As with most of our interactions, first impressions often impact the trajectory of our relationships—whether positively or negatively.

First impressions matter a lot to people—including your online learners. The landing page of your online course is crucial to get right because it’s the initial content your learners will encounter. To start off on the right foot, our advice is to assemble the following items.

TIPS FOR YOUR LANDING PAGE

  1. Video Intro—The intro should be short and to the point. Using a smartphone to record yourself can do the job.

  2. Course description—A synopsis gives students a bird’s eye view of what the class will cover. You don’t have to make it long if you’ve included a video intro.

  3. Curriculum outline—Users want to know what they will be learning and the time commitment involved. They’ll have a better idea when provided an outline and downloadable media material.
