Southeastern Municipality of Kosovo Signs Memorandum of Understanding with EDUonGo-Powered Albanian Massive Open Online Courses to Promote Distance Learning
Memorandum paves way for more STEM learning in Kosovo municipalities
To help expand science and coding in schools across the Municipality of Gjilan, Kosovo, Mayor Lufti Haziri has signed an agreement with Almooc, a non-profit organization that provides free education to Albanians.
Mayor Haziri and Ridvan Aliu, CEO of EDUonGo and executive director of Almooc, have joined efforts to promote Coding, Math, Physics, Chemistry and English in primary and secondary schools. The MOOC (massive open online courses) is powered by Washington State-based EDUonGo, a cloud-based learning platform that hosts online academies.
“I am very pleased with the quality of learning that Almooc brings to the Municipality of Gjilan,” says Mayor Haziri. “I have no doubt that the platform will help prepare our students professionally and create new jobs in the field of science and technology.”
Currently, Almooc provides education to over 31,000 Albanian-speaking students. EDUonGo will serve as Almooc’s primary learning platform from which instructors will deliver their online courses. Courses are taught by working professionals and university professors.
“The memorandum signed by Mayor Haziri marks the beginning of long-term partnership,” says Aliu. “It will benefit all students of the municipality.”
